Montana Plumbing Licensure: 3 Levels of Licensed Plumbers
1. Apprentice
2. Journeyman
3. Master
An Apprentice must acquire 8000 hours under a Journeyman Plumber.
A Journeyman Plumber must have a specific record of 5 years and 7500 aggregate hours of experience in the field of plumbing or completed an apprenticeship program meeting the standards set by the Montana Apprenticeship and Training Bureau. To receive licensure, a written exam and practical exam must be passed.
A Master Plumber must have 4 years experience as a licensed journeyman plumber in the field of plumbing with 3 years experience working with a licensed master. An examination must also be passed to receive Master license.
